About Us

osmeta is a Silicon Valley startup. We are working on really, really interesting software technology. It's big. We will tell you more when the time is right.

Team

We have the most formidable programming talent density imaginable under a startup's roof, or any other roof for that matter.

Our 19-person engineering team consists of world-renowned hackers and highly accomplished researchers capable of herculean software engineering. The breadth and depth of computer science knowledge contained within the brains of our team is remarkable. Most of us have had illustrious careers at places such as Google, IBM Research, Yahoo Research, and VMware.

Our programming experience is even more impressive—both quantitatively and qualitatively. Between us, over the years, we have done pretty much “everything” in terms of software creation, including several first-in-the-world type of magical things. (Examples: Android, Chrome for Android, Chrome OS, Google Crawling, AdWords, ZooKeeper, BookKeeper, Pig (Hadoop), OSGi, Linux kernel control groups, network and other device drivers, cognitive computing, massive storage systems, unusual file systems, various types of virtualization, video game console emulation, and many, many others.)

Devices

And yet, what we are doing at osmeta is the coolest, most fun-to-work-on, and most ambitious endeavor any of us has ever been involved in. It's the significance and meaningfulness of this endeavor that brought us together at osmeta.

We believe that with discipline and focus, a small group of talented people can change the world.

Team++

If you would like to be a part of our team and work on some of the most challenging and interesting problems imaginable, talk to us. You'll be in for a fascinating ride. You don't need to have any particular “domain expertise”—you do have to be a very good programmer and software engineer, generically speaking. You will also need to hold a lot of complexity in your head.

We also have programming internships available.

Leadership

Amit Singh is our President and CEO.

Excitement

As thrilled as we are about what we are doing, industry veterans with inside-knowledge of osmeta are quite excited too. To quote some:

I have seen osmeta's technology and what this team has accomplished is mind-blowing. I have no doubt that it will have a great impact on the industry.

Dan Dobberpuhl
Design Lead of DEC Alpha, StrongARM, MicroVAX, and T-11 CPUs
Co-Founder/CEO of P.A. Semi and SiByte

As a founder, investor, and former CEO of a number of very successful technology companies, I have rarely seen an early stage company with the vision, technology strength, market opportunity, and management skills that osmeta brings. The technology they are developing has the potential to be a major driver of change in the software industry, while opening up an enormous market opportunity in one of the industry's fastest growing and and most dynamic sectors: mobile. The depth and breath of the osmeta R&D team uniquely position the company to be leaders in this market for many years.

I first met Amit Singh a few years ago. It took me very little time to become his fan. I feel fortunate to be associated with Amit and his company osmeta through my angel investment and board membership. Amit not only envisioned osmeta's technology, but also assembled an amazingly stellar 10-person engineering team in very short order. They are working on technology that will be a game-changer in the software world. I am totally confident that Amit and the team will reach the zenith of their careers with the successful execution and delivery of the osmeta product.

Co-Founder/CEO of Maginatics and Agnilux

Here is some feedback from our interns:

Working at osmeta as a summer intern was an amazing experience! The technical challenges were intense but rewarding, and I learned a great deal about widely diverse technologies. This was a great opportunity to be part of a team with the talent and drive to change the world.

osmeta is an awesome company to work for! Our goal is incredibly cool, both technically and in terms of what it means for the software industry. As an intern, what I find invaluable about osmeta is the programming talent surrounding me. They not only know exactly what they are doing, but are helping me become a much better programmer.

Place of Work

We have a great office in a great location: just off Castro Street in downtown Mountain View, surrounded by restaurants, cafés, pubs, and bookshops. Every now and then we have street festivals and farmers' market in our vicinity. Caltrain and Light Rail are a block from us. U.S. 101, Highway 85, and Route 237 are all roughly within a 1-mile radius.

We strive to provide an awesome working environment for our team.

Our Hobbies

Our team is quite eclectic in terms of extra curricular activities too. We do things such as Ultimate Frisbee, performance dancing, motorcycling, long bicycle rides, and some good old-fashioned aircraft flying. (And even aircraft building, seriously.) At the end of the day, we also are incorrigible computer geeks who love to tinker with computers and computing and have an unquenchable thirst for learning.
